"Spiders" ...

"Spiders" are computer programs that have been written to search the World Wide Web.  A given spider may gather information that is used by one or more search engines.  Because the spiders are each unique, it is very desirable to make a given website's coding as simple as possible.  This simpler the coding, the greater the probability that the search engines will properly list the website.
